Certified Fire Inspector II
About this course
The Certified Fire Inspector II (CFI-II) training provides an overview of the minimum skills and knowledge required of a CFI-II, based on the job performance requirements found in Chapter 5 of NFPA 1031, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner. This course will help participants perform their jobs, and along with additional study, assist them in preparing for the certification examination. *Note: To participate in the CFI-II training you must first attain the CFI-I Certification.
The goal of the Certified Fire Inspector II training is to prepare the fire inspector for certification based on the job performance requirements found in NFPA 1031, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner. To accomplish this, the training will review; the development, adoption, and use of fire related codes and standards, the authority, jurisdiction, and duty of a fire inspector, the importance of code enforcement in the overall fire protection of a community, and the critical components of the inspector’s job and the knowledge they need to perform the job.
Course Objectives include
- Perform administrative tasks such as, process permit applications, plan review applications, and investigate complex complaints
- Recommend modifications to the adopted codes and standards as well as policies and procedures for delivering inspections
- Evaluate the area, height, occupancy classification, construction type, and maximum occupant load of a mixed-use building
- Evaluate fire protection systems and equipment provided for life safety and property protection
- Evaluate hazardous conditions involving equipment, processes, operations, and storage
- Evaluate emergency planning and preparedness procedures
