Course Objectives include
- Navigate NFPA 400 to locate code requirements.
- Recognize the types and variety of hazardous materials.
- Determine how to complete hazardous materials signs in accordance with NFPA 704.
- Determine maximum allowable quantities (MAQs) based on the hazardous material, occupancy type(s), and location within the building.
- Analyze control area requirements in a given space.
- Determine the required level of fire protection based on the hazardous material(s) present and the quantity.
- Identify fundamental protection requirements for hazardous materials.
- Identify emergency planning requirements.
- Identify the requirements for operating and maintenance procedures, safety reviews, incident investigation, and document retention.
