• Recognize the types and variety of hazardous materials.
• Determine how to complete hazardous materials signs in accordance with NFPA 704.
• Determine maximum allowable quantities (MAQs) based on the hazardous material, occupancy type(s), and location within the building.
• Analyze control area requirements in a given space.
• Determine the required level of fire protection based on the hazardous material(s) present and the quantity.
• Identify fundamental protection requirements for hazardous materials.
• Identify emergency planning requirements.
• Identify the requirements for operating and maintenance procedures, safety reviews, incident investigation, and document retention.
