DGDA Opera House
Project Overview
The Opera House occupies a significant location on Diriyah Gate ll central Boulevard, the Opera House is envisioned to serve as a gateway to the Development from KSU and Greater Riyadh and be a major asset that represents the blending of Najdi architecture and culture with Riyadh’s contemporary society.
The Challenge
Designing the Fire and Life Safety strategy for the Opera House is a major challenge because of the large crowds and the building’s unique shape. As a key landmark at Diriyah Gate II, the project mixes traditional Najdi style with modern design, creating a complex layout that makes planning exit routes difficult. Our main engineering task is to fit safe exit paths and fire systems into this beautiful architecture without ruining the look. We have to ensure the safety of thousands of visitors while fully respecting the design of this important cultural gateway.
Our Solution
Red Helmet Engineering utilized a performance-based engineering approach supported by advanced evacuation and smoke modeling. By simulating crowd movement and fire behavior within the unique interior, we developed a customized safety strategy that works in harmony with the architecture. This allowed us to integrate essential fire protection systems seamlessly, ensuring rigorous compliance and occupant safety without altering the visual impact of the design.
